Gaby's Fish 5-2-2010

Change of mind.  The Guide will not be on this fish.  This will be a wild fish!

  1. I am very attached to every fish. It is so strong that I must have its completion destination in mind as I am working. This is the main reason why I find it difficult to keep any of my own work. It has to go out ASAP. The too, my studio is so small and becomes such a mess. I use the out-takes (shavings) for the La Mer side and keep a pile for the next creation, still out of mind at this time. This one is for a woman who works with My heart MD.

  2. It is now ready for the application of circles on the front side and several coats of White Gesso will follow that to preserve the paint that follows from the chemical qualities of aging foam core (I hope). Gesso is a preservative used on canvas for that same purpose. It adds a lot of strength and weight to the fish wall hangings. You will be surprised by the heft of these peices.

  3. The black and white work on the revers is getting very strong since I started with the two sides wall hangings or ceiling hangings. I guess it is up to who ever gets one to figure them out. La Mer est Le Monde...

  4. I painted the front side with its first coat of green last night and also did the side fin. This morning I took care of the overlap that always happens when the green (or other color)spills over a bit into the other (black and white) side. This is always a bit of a problem because the white needs multiple coates to go over the green and then I need to redo the black outlines again. It takes a lot of work to put one of these two sided fishes together.

When viewing from the side, sometimes the whit side shows too much and I have to paint some green to be true to the front side. So in some places, a little green needs to be seen on the white side.
